Questions about available chips and setup.

I asked some of these questions before, but I'm not sure they were answered(I posted at the end of a thread).

1.) I am leaning toward Diablo because of the fit in the console, does Diablo make a chip for a 92' 5.8l?

2.) If so, what are the gains?

3.) I would like for the engine to keep or increase it's performance at all rpm's. What I'm saying is that I don't want to gain all the HP at high RPM just to lose torque at a low RPM. How do Diablo chips work?

4.) I am paticully interested in increaseing low end performance without sacrificing high end(i.e. I want more torque for pulling than HP for racing). Is this possible?

5.) I know the chips require higher octane gas, what happens if you forget and put 87 in?

6.) Since I have a manual, it won't mess with the tranny?

7.) Installation and removal is simply plug and play?

8.) If the chip removes the speed limiter is there still a rev limiter?

9.) Can I request the speed limiter totally removed?

10.) What kind of maintance do these things require? if none, do they increase the wear on other tems?

Thanks in advance Danny.

Questions about available chips and setup.

OK Here goes:
1. There are programs for the 92, 5.8L. I need to know your code before I can tell you if Diablo has the program written.
2. The gains for any chip in your truck would be 18hp and 39 ft/lb torque.
3. The old racer's axiom is that Torque spins the tires and hauls the load and Horsepower makes it go fast. I am not sure of your question here, hp and torque both build on a curve proportionate to RPM. We cannot change the curve to move torque up or down the rpm range without sacrificing someplace. For every plus there is a minus. We can move the timing curve up or down, but, what you gain at one end, you lose at the other.
4. The stock chip give an additional 39 ft/lb of torque and 19hp. That is not a great hp gain, it is a significant torque gain.
5. On regular fuel, the truck will most likely give a preignition rattle under load.
6. OK
7. Installation is to clean the contacts on your ecu and plug the chip in.
8. Yes there is a rev limiter.
9. We will raise the rev limiter to a safe limit, we will not completely remove the rev limiter. This would allow the user to floor the vehicle in 1st gear, floor the gas pedal until the truck engine scattered.
10. ZERO maintenance. The additional wear is only as heavy as your right foot.
Thanks
Danny

Questions about available chips and setup.

Hey thanks Danny.

1.) What code in particular do you need?

2.) The question I was trying to ask earlier is that if you look at a hp and torque chart for this engine stock, I was asking if the new hp and torque lines would ever fall under the stocks ones. Meaning will the chip decrease performance at a certain rpm, or is it a gain for the whole powerband?

3.) Assuming Diablo does make a chip for me I'm assuming the same price as listed for the new Ford motors.

4.) After taxes are all straightened out, how would I go about getting this chip from you (or Ken)? Simply order from the website here or what?

Thanks again.
