Acetone in the Tank?
 

OK....since we can't reach a concenses about it....lets just take a vote...

Actually, I like the idea of a poll. Curious as to what others might say. But with the choices available, I wouldn't feel comfortable answering the question. The 3rd choice makes no sense to me, unless it's for humor. I would like to see a 3rd option other than the first two obvious choices of "Yes" and "NO". Maybe even a 4th choice.

e.g.
(Answer the first 4 only if you tried using acetone in your vehicle)
1. YES, acetone helps increase fuel mileage
2. No. acetone does not help increase fuel mileage
3. Acetone helped increase fuel mileage, but I'm not confident it would work for all cars
4. Acetone didn't help increase fuel mileage, but I'm not sure if it might not help some cars
5. I've never tried it but wanted to answer the poll anyway

I have tried it (had a gallon laying unused for years) and I got a statistically insignificant increase in mpg. Due to certain factors (no cruise control, hilly terrain, only E10 available) I discontinued the experiment.

I voted yes, but with 2 clarifications. 1st; I was only getting between 9.6-10.2mpg prior. With acetone, I average 10.8-11.1 +/-. That is with regular NON-Ethanol gas. 2nd; My first test with my other vehicle had E-10 gas in it and acetone had no affect on the mileage. I have started using the regular NON-ethanol gas and will start another test with that. (FWIW, I have gone between the E10 and regular Non-Ethanol gas for years. Mileage is the same and the price is the same, so I went with who was cheaper that day). Using Non-ethanol is what is recommended so i'll see if there is any improvement like with the other vehicle. I ran it in the Ranger last summer for 6-7 tanks. Mileage was like 0.2 better, to me that is no change (especially when you consider the pain) ~5 oz/tank

But, the truck started and ran better, and I am convinced that it cleaned up the injectors better than any injector cleaner I've used. I ran it again a month or so ago for 2 tanks just to clean it all up again, and now it starts and runs better.
