NEED HELP!!!!!

The welder that works with my boss has a '66 bronco. It's in rough shape. I'm looking for something to have fun with and possibly fix up later and I love the way the older bronco's look. It is very rusted, but the engine runs. I'm not sure which engine it has in it. I'm also not sure how well the 4 wheel drive works. The only thing he's told me about the truck is that the engine runs, and that if I were to get it stuck, I would have to swim out of where ever I got it stuck. He is asking $1000 for it. I am very tempted to buy it, but many people have told me it's not worth it. What should I do? I know I haven't given you guys very much to go on, but it's all I know. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before plunkin down any of your hard earned $$$ Go there, start it, put it in gear, drive it , put it 4x4, drive it some more. All the while you should be listening for bangs, clunks, vibration, ect, ect,Crawl under neath after shutting down and chech drive shafts and yolks for excessive play (If you can roll either front or rear shafts more than 1/2" it could be on it's way out)If everything basically works and you feel comfortable with your own repair abilities then BUY IT. Any running 4x4 that will pull out of it's own smoke is worth a grand just don't rely on it for your daily driver untill you get all the bugs out and can fix it up..... good luck

1966 Ford Bronco (first year ever made)
It would have to really be a pile of crap not to be worth $1000.
It's probably worth $1000 in parts alone no matter what kind of shape it's in. If you want a classic bronco to restore or fix up and have fun with, there's almost no way you can go wrong at $1000.
