Converting 302 Bronco to 351

I have an 89 Bronco with which I would like to swap out the 302 for a 351. It seems like it should be fairly straightforward. What I would like to know is: Are the motor mounts the same? Will the accessories bolt on without problems? Do I need a new computer (I have speed density)?

Thanks.

Brent, I think this is a direct swap mount wise, but your engine should be from a 4X4 F-150 or big Bronco.( it would just be less hassle ) Your Bronco has the AOD trans dosen't it? The 351W picked up the AOD trans in 89 I believe. And you probably will need the electronics from the donor vehicle. I don't know about the accessory brackets interchanging.

Since the heads sit up on the block higher on a 351 compared to a 302, any 302 bracket that is attached to the head and the block or water pump will not fit on a 351. You really want a 351 that comes with the brackets if possible. Don't know if oil pan shape will be a factor (Bronco pans use to be different -rear sumps- than car pans), however, 302 and 351 pans are not interchangable,i.e., you may need a Bronco 351 pan. Everything else should be a bolt-in. Once put a 351 in a 65 Mustang that had a 289 - great swap !! Good Luck
