Cracked Header - Now What?

Bronco Owners,

One of my headers is cracked and I am beginning to smell exhaust fumes from the interior when I am stopped at a red light. This of course is not good and I am looking for any recommendations as to what pair of headers I should look into. Ideally, I want a pair of headers that gives me, most importantly, a noticeable increase in low end torque. High end horse power would also definitely be a plus. And, of course, I want to spend a reasonable amount of money.

I own a 1992 FS Bronco with a 5.0 engine that is I would say is 99% stock. It sounds to me that if I replace just the headers and keep the existing exhaust system the same (with 2 ¼" pipes), the backpressure should create the low end torque I am looking for. Am I right?

The cat-back exhaust has been replaced once before by the previous owner but only with OEM parts (how boring). Currently, the exhaust is starting to get a bit old and rusty. Would it be worthwhile for me to look into replacing the entire exhaust system while I am down there replacing the headers?

Any helpful advice is great. Thanks in advance.

Cracked Header - Now What?

i have a '90 bronco 5.0 i'm guessing you have a
cracked manifold not header. both mine cracked
i went with ford motorsports shorty stainless
headers, got a fair power gain. but i had already
installed a high flow cat [smog legal] a flowmaster muffler with 3" tube from the collector
back. the headers bolted up to the stock exhaust
this combo helped alot with power, but remember
bolt ons can only do so much, this is a small
motor in a fairly heavy truck. header $300 rest
of exhaust $500 installed. good luck
