Body Lift
I own a 2001 2WD Ford F-150, and I was wondering how much of a difference it will make if I add on a 3 inch body lift. Does anyone have any pictures that I could see or anything, just to give me some kind of idea. And also, with adding a 3 inch body lift, am I going to have to buy new and bigger tires, or will it look good with the tires that came on it?

Welcome to the forum! :)
Many members have lifted their trucks like you intend to. I think they will be along shortly to help you out. In the meantime here's a link to one where the truck was lifted 3". https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...ulls-fine.html :-X25 |
cept that truck has a 2 inch torsion key lift as well!! so its bigger than a standard 3 inch body lift
|
Body lifts are great for trucks that are mainly for on road use because they don't affect with suspension/steering hardly at all. You won't have to buy larger tires, but it will look better with them.

Theres some guys that 4wheel pretty hard with the 3" body lift and have,nt had any problems..I had a old S10 truck with a 3' body and 33" tires with torsion bars full up.. I all but turned it over more than once, beat it hard and never broke anything..I mean hit holes wide open and hill climed with it..I kinda try and take better care of my F150.http://campaigns.ford-trucks.net/for...cons/icon7.gif..this truck is sweeet.. |
I have a 99 4x4 with a 3" lift, U dont Have to buy bigger tires, but it will look kinda out of place with the original size tires on it.

I have a 99 f-150 with a 3" body lift on it and I have 305/70r/16 tires and I had to do some trimming on the inside of the front bumper (plastic) to get them to fit but you cant see it until you crawl under it. I have some pics in my gallery https://www.ford-trucks.com/user_gal...?albumid=22621
there are also some pics i took while putting the lift on. Also if you do it your self MOVE THE BED BACK BEFORE YOU LIFT THE CAB!!!! I found out the hard way why you need to do this it will put a big gash (ok a scrape) right under the rear window close to the door. Good Luck! Jeremy |
ight, preciate it guys, but does anybody know the average price of a set of tires to go with the 3 inch body lift?
|
33 12.50 avg $175/tire that may or may not be totally accurate :-D

Thanks liquid! Offroader i paid about 1500 for a set of 16x10 Dick Cepek DC-1's and wraped them with 305/70r/16 BF Goodrich All Terrains.

This 99' F-150 has a fabtech lift kit on it and I was wondering if I were to put a body lift on the same model truck instead of a suspension lift would it look the same?

It should untill you crawl under it also you will be able to see light through the bed unless you put on some gap guards. Mine looks like it sits higher than that with the body lift you can see pics in my gallery.
|
it should look pretty similar, if its done well, you usually cant tell till you get up close and personal. You might see the frame peeking out from beneath the truck in some places, and unless you have a chevy, that means you have a body lift,
|
Yep blas right!! But if you take a mild cleaner and and clean the frame and then spray it with the sound barrier wrinkle rubberized paint it looks pretty good...
