New 2007 FX4 price

With 0% financing for 66 months my brother is looking at buying a 2007 FX4. One he looked at stickered for around $34,200. What would be a realistic price for that? I am in the SE Wisconsin area. Any help would be appreciated!!

Skip the sticker price. Use the "build & price" app on Ford's site to see what the invoice is and try to get under that plus rebates if you can. http://www58.forddirect.fordvehicles.com/FordVehicles.jsp?target=config&partner=&sModel=200 7F-150&sBrand=Ford&sZip=

what is he looking to spend? you get what you pay for. I wouldn't buy a FX4 unless it had the same options as a Lariat.

a really nice FX4 with a MSRP of $36-38k would be ideal. Rebates are from $3k to $5k right now. So with no trade and a rebate of $5k, you could expect $32-33K after taxes in my neck of the woods...I'll bet your cost of living is lower than mine though

You can also goto cars.com and build your truck and it will give you an invoice price as well. then you can print it off and goto the dealer with it and deal from there.

Well my example is of the same truck but still a F150.

I just purchased a work truck, F150 reg cab, 8ft bed, V6, A/T and A/C. The truck stickered at $20,400. The dealer discounted it to $17,578, a 14% discount, then I got the $3000 rebate and a $300 business owners rebate. So the bottom line on the truck was $14,278. But taxes are determined on the $17,578 sales price.

For your $34,200 truck, if you got 10% off sticker and took the $3000 rebate you'd be looking at $27,780. But if you are going to finance a major part of the purchase then you should probably take the 0% at 60 months. With my trade my out the door cost was $12,193 so the rebate was the better way to go for me.

My A-Plan price took my truck from $37,000 to $29,000. First time I ever got to use it. What a savings. Dealer was telling me that there is only about $9k in raw materials in a truck, the rest is R&D and labor markups. Dealerships make almost nothing except in service area.

You *-Plan guys bug me.

Paid full price many times my friend but the opportunity presented itself when my sister decided she wanted to work for Ford. I've never owned anything but a Ford since I could drive in 1977 and never owned a car or a 2wd vehicle. Time to collect on that dedication to the Ford trucks...

and he fed you a line of B.S.

the average consumer pays what the sticker price (the total $, not the MSRP) says if not thousands more. Most people aren't even aware that a pricing plan exists. If they did, Ford would drop them like a bad habit.

If I had paid the $43K they wanted for my truck, they (dealership) would have made over $6,000 of pure profit off of my truck. And that is before they account for my trade-in and Ford kickbacks for the sale. They can make anywhere from $500 to $5,000 on average for a trade-in. It just depends on how gullible the buyer is. I got my truck for $32k, but I had to suck up a $1,000 loss in the trade-in for them to play ball. Those $50 over invoice deals are crap...they get you one way or the other, or they go out of business

Well, back to the original topic....

My truck stickered for $34835, and they sold it to me for $4k off sticker. So, ~$31,000 plus tax, title, and reg. This was WITH the finance offer instead of the additional $3k off, by the way.

I took the 1.9% instead of the $ off. I lost a little on the trade but the A-plan price more then made up for that difference. But the most important thing is I just happened to find the exact truck in the right color with the exact equipment that I wanted. Didn't have to order and didn't have to settle for less then I wanted...just pure dumb luck.

Tom 05-11-2007 09:25 AM

Yeah...the way I look at it, the incentive financing is worth more than the extra rebate once you go over $25k msrp.

I would have had another $3k off sticker if I took the rebate, but I am saving over $5k in interest...

not to :-hijacked or anything, but i've heard the x-plan and now a-plan? what are these all about? can any reg. joe get/use one? or do you need to be "in" or something?!?

thanks!

VFR_Man 05-11-2007 11:28 AM

This explains the plans. http://www.teamfordlv.com/axz/index.html.

X-plan is pretty much worthless in my area when dealers will sell for a few hundred under invoice to anybody with enough sense to ask them to do so.

Go to blueovalforums and find the area where you can ask for an X-plan pin if you think it's worth it.

"Nothing" is a matter of perspective when dealers talk about profit. I guess the 5-7% dealer holdback by itself is "nothing" compared to the profit from the fool who pays sticker price or more for a vehicle.

www.carsdirect.com is the best place to go to price and build. You can build your entire truck on there and they'll honor the price when you submit it through at a local dealership who will ship it in with no hassle from new car dealers.
