thought i'd better say my hello's in here too

Getting my Excursion on Tuesday Next week, cant wait
Its the 6.8l V10 2001 XLT, should be big enough for the family most of the time, theres 11 of us in all so we will still need 2 cars. Least we can take more luggage now though.

anyone in the UK recommend a good place to get parts from, i know its something we should have checked earlier but upon our visit from our Villa in Clermont,Fl we saw a few X's and knew we had to get one.And as soon as we found one, we just put down the deposit straight away.
I know its going to be mega buck to run over here, probably never get to fill the gas tank up to the brim as the pumps would time out. but was also considering the propane conversion , been told that would not loose much power but would cost IRO $5000 (£2500) as its the V10. and the vehicle has the space underneath for two 50litre tanks.

will be after a few parts, mainly cosmetic to start with, the wife likes the idea of large crome wheels, and a large loud exhaust system to compete with the impreza ive chopped in for her so any help would be appreciated.

I really like the sound of those V10's with a loud exhaust too... Almost F1 like. Will get a few looks at the lights sounding like a Williams F1 at idle :-D

Welcome to the world of Ford Trucks.

I am in West London and have a 1954 Ford F100 so don't know much about these new fangled modern trucks but here are a few ideas to get you started

Pick up a copy of classic American magazine, there are quite a few companies that specialise in supplying parts and service for American autos.

www.usautomotive.co.uk have a good reputation for price and service

www.northantstyres.com would be my choice for a set of shiny rims

Most parts suppliers in the US will ship to the UK just check the shipping costs as these can vary a lot between different companies, You will usually have to pay Import duty then VAT on the cost of the parts, duty and shipping :mad:

If you are visiting the USA regularly you can always carry small parts back in tour luggage and save a lot of money :)

After the pumps time out at about £100 ($200) just push the flap where the pump handle lives to reset the pump and continue to fill 'er up, when you go to pay both amounts will come up on the clerks computer, the most I have put in my Excursion is £155 ($310) :D

yes found that out now, after 3 months of ownership i also realised that US gallons are smaller than UK gallons.
gone from a 44 US gallon tank to a 36 UK gallon, still can get only (after calculation the conversion rate) up to 13mpg, but hey, who cares :lol:

lol i have had it up to that ..... but not for long, usually when coming downhill i push the reset (and then tell the wife, its not costing the earth) makes us feel a little better

Heh - you think it's a problem filling one of these up - try refuelling an Alvis Stalwart - the fuel tank takes 100 imperial gallons and the vehicle returns - on a good day - 2.5 mpg!!!! not gong to say what the last tank load cost me :-down
Oh - and you need to earth the body out with an iron bar before starting to refuel, filler cap is 7 feet from the ground thus making refuelling a 2 man job..
What fun!!! :)

Same goes for an OT-90 - you really need to see the cashiers face when the filler nozzle get stuck into the rear doors!!! :)

As regards the fuel computer display - multiply it by 1.2 to get the mpg figure for UK gallons. We're getting 20 mpg (UK) out of our F-250 right now!

Lol, it´s always funny to read the ridiculous prices you guys have to play (it also saddens me a bit). I spend the equivalent of 2$ to fill my Bronco´s tank here.
