Frequent Coil Pack issues

Has anyone else had to replace coil packs as much as I have? 4-5 times on an 02 V8?

Welcome to FTE
it is a common problem, they do go bad and short out with any moisture.
I have an 03 and was having problems with one so I ended up changing them all out.

Is there a better pack I could use to lessen the amount of times I will be spending the money on those suckers?

They do make some aftermarket coils but I don't know if they will last any longer or not but you could try them.
Thees guys sell a few different ones but there not cheap.

My #5 coil went a couple of weeks ago. Thought I was going to get stranded on a deserted country road late at night. I was able to limp home and get it changed out the next day without too much hassle (unless you count the $318.00 as hassle). Now the truck seems to idle and accelerate rougher, with a noticeable increase in vibration.

Anyone else had this kind of experience? I'm wondering which shoe is going to drop next...

I have an 01 with original cops. You people need to STOP WASHING THE TOP OF YOUR ENGINES. It will cost you in the long run.

I've replaced mine 5-6 times over the last 1 1/2 years or so. same one-driver's side every time. Ford never found the cause....they just keep changing them. Luckily, I think I've only paid twice...the rest were under warranty. One time they told me there was coolant sitting in one of my spark plug holes, and that was probably what caued it. They checked the entire coolant system, and found no leak....I don't get it. 12k since last pack change and all is well....keeping my fingers crossed.
