Hankook tires??
 

Hello all. I'm a new member and owner of a 2004 SCREW that will need new tires shortly. I've been looking for 285/65R18s in an attempt to fill out the wheel wells a bit and came across these tires: http://www.hankooktireusa.com/produc...l.asp?pid=1069 . They have 275/65s, 285/65s and 275/70s available that would fit the bill nicely but I know nothing about Hankooks. I'm primarily interested in the 275/70s and the 285/65s. Any help from any of you would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hankook is one of the brands that Ford uses from the factory. It hasnt had a good wear performance and they had to change the wheel alignment specs to keep from wearing them completely out in 20 thousand miles.

I like to recommend BFG Long Trail. They seem to be the ones Ford keeps coming back too over and over for durable performance. The Rugged Trails havent been as good. I have the 18 inch Long Trail and they are overall a pretty good tire for ride, handling, tread wear and wet weather performance for me in my area.

how much does it cost you for all the new tires normally homer? its about time for me to get some new ones too. also i read about a tire place doing "splicing" on tires. where they cut little slits into your new tires when you buy them. its suppose to help tread water. ill find the link for it and post it. has anyone heard of it?

I think you mean siping, which produces many more edges on the tire to improve ice traction. Never heard of it helping with displacement of water as I don't think it produces any more voids in the tread.

the handkook tires came with my 07 f150, i looked them up too, they are a very soft treaded tire. nice grip though. probably wont last long.

You should be able to find BFG Long Trails in the 100-125 each range most anywhere.

I put hankooks on my truck. Screw 2 wd. Great in the rain suck in the snow and no bite on anything but pavement. If I could afford to change them out I would go back to BFG.

Yeah, the Hankooks are the low end standard equipment tire. I've got the BFG Long Trails, much better tire. When I get my mileage out of them, I'll upgrade to the BFG All Terrains, IMO, the best truck tire out there.

I put the Hankook MT RT03 on my truck, was nearly $700 for all four just after their release. I love them, rotate them every 5000 miles and so far my wear is extremely even. I know their mud tires and not street tires but they have been performing very well on pavement, rain, and definitely well in mud.

I don't have any experience with any other Hankook's but for the last 14,000 miles these have been fantastic and I would definitely buy them again.

Oh, mine are 285/70/17 and they do have a 275/65/18. The only down side is that if quietness is a major concern then don't get 'em. Like any MT they ain't quiet.

Did they balance up OK? I'm looking at the ATM RF10 All Terrain tires for my truck. No real need for mud tires here in AZ although our dirt road gets kind of gamey during the monsoon season. The All Terrains tires I have owned in the past seem to do well enough in the snow during the winters up here in the High Country. When the time comes I'll probably end with the Hankook tires (maybe the LT275/70R18's). Thanks for the input.

Balanced up just fine on the stock rims, there are pics in my gallery if you wanna see 'em.

I still have my factory hankook tires on with 40,000 miles and 2/3 tread left IMO. Never had anyproblems, even though they are passenger tires.

Hey JD. What model tire do you have on your truck?

Same here JD, mine are the 235/70r17. My tires look like they can easily do another 20,000 miles.
