power steering pumps keep going out 1977 F250 4x4 Highboy

Have a 1977 Ford F250 4x4 Highboy, with no power steering. Pump had gone out.

Previous original owner had installed power steering pump 3 times, 3 seperate pumps, and each time the pump goes out.

Is there some other part that would cause the power steering pump to keep going out? Right now the power steering pump that is in there, the pulley is locked up, and won't turn. No belt attached, of course.

Hubby has been driving it manual steering. What a pain !

I wanted to get some ideas of what type of power steering pump and other parts that need to be replaced or checked?

Runs great, sounds good, but sure could use some power steering!!

Simple problem, check the Read First:FAQ thread at the top of the 73-9 forum for PS info.

Whenever ANY power steering component is changed install a filter:
Wix Transmission/PS Filter
===================
Wix transmission/PS filter #58964
Ford equivalent filter kit #XC3Z-7B155-AA
Ford filter alone #XC3P-7B155-BA
200 psi working, pressure relieved, magnetic
change yearly or 12000 miles

After that many failures the system will need to be cleaned and flushed with new fluid also. Many pumps have instructions with them about cleaning and filters but nobody reads them...:(
