08 F-250 CC 4x4 SWR 3.73's.
Computer has not dropped below 14.1. I have almost 300 miles still 1/2 tank left and about 30% is city driving. On highway was getting almost 17 (16.9) w/ computer. Have not refilled yet so can't report calculated mileage. But pleased with computer mileage so far. I am keeping my foot off of accelerator if you know what i mean.

F450 4x4 with 4:88's here..........over 2200 miles I'm averaging 11mph. Mostly Rural and Highway, few trips under 15 mile ea. way

I have the 2008 F-250 4x4 with 3:73's. Still doin mostly highway and not really gettin on it.

Not to mention I came out in front today and I noticed I have some sort of clear oil leakin on the drivers through the shock tower. I cant really tell if its the shock. I am thinkin it might be leakin from up in the engine compartment. Being new to a diesel I dont know to much about the mechanics. I think I am gonna take it in tomorrow morning.

Damn Strut, I have the same set up as you. How fast are you going on the highway? At 70, I can't break 9 mpg. I'm averaging combined 8.8. Tomorrow I have tow a car w/ my trailer on the highway, so I'll reset my computer and see what I'm getting towing. Actually, I may not want to see. :-missingt

Speed, most of mine is rural roads and I usually set the cruise at 55mph - 60 mph seldom above that. Highway is limitied but rarely go over 65 mph when I do. I also rarely have a one way trip under 15 miles.......Heck it's 13mile to the nearest Grocery store!

I've found that on the Diesel's I've owned, the sweet spot is 2000 rpm for mileage.

firehawk198 04-09-2007 11:29 AM

Strut, you forgot to mention the trip up the hill on I-84 into Scranton pulling your Cedar Creek at 81 mph. Bet that doesn't do much for the milage maybe 3mph on that stretch. yea on I-78 washboards you probably couldn't hold onto it over 60mph.lol! new pick in my gallery yesterday.

Oh yeah- 55-60 @ 2k rpm IS the sweet spot for the best mileage i've seen so far. The thing is here, if you're doin' 55-60 on the highway, you're getting flipped off and passed and honked at by everyone! I averaged 7.5 to 8 mpg with my loaded trailer doing 55-60 in traffic during rush hour. Not as bad as I thought it would be.

Where is Columbia County? I used to live in Montgomery County PA.

Strut61 04-09-2007 07:10 PM

Flipped off and Honked at..............I love making folks do that! :-missingt I just giggle and wave when they go by. Then really *iss them off and floor it whe they reach your door handles.....Now that's livin!:-X14 Lucky I ain't been shot..

Columbia county is in East Central Pa......ABout 70 miles West of Allentown, 70 miles North of Harrisburg and about 50 South of Williamsport. Not far(30 mi West) from the intersections of I80 and I81.

Yeah man, you are in the middle of nowhere! Been to Carlisle and Harrisburg several times, Bedford, then up through State College to Lewistown down to Philly. Lots and lots 'o wide open spaces. Nice country though.

:-hijacked Back to topic!
