Do I need tools? Never changed one before in the Expy. I was going to do it in the parking lot at wifes work.

Yes, you guys suck. I posted this at mercedesshop and they answered with 5 hours. I did it myself anyway. The dreaded #4.

That would have been a COP, not a coil pack.

Well, just an FYI, you need an 8mm socket, ratchet and extension and probably a swivel.

Sorry, I must have missed your post or I would have chimed in quickly.

I agree, the #4 is not as hard to change as some have made it out to be. In fact, once one gets his hand back through all the hoses and wires, there's probably more room around #4 than most of the other COPs.

Honestly though, I wish Ford engineers would WAKE UP one day and design an engine like the Toyota engineers. I have a Sequoia with a 4.7L V-8 that has virtually no encumberances to the top of the engine (which is forward like it should be) in which I could easily change all 8 COPs in less than 20 minutes. Take a look at one some time, this engine compartment is probably less cluttered than my '68 F250's.

Yeah, it was kind of funny. I grew up working on my dad's old GMC Jimmy. So when we first got the Expy I was fishing around looking for the spark plugs behind the front wheels and in between the exhaust manifolds.

What year GMC? I have a '65 1002, Long Wideside, with 165K miles, original 305E V6 and SM420 granny 4 speed.
