mirror bolt stripped

i am replacing the mirrors that mount into the door and the one bolt in the door is stripped. Anyone come across this? I'm replacing them with the chrome style mirrors that mount on the upper part of the door. Thanks in advance.

Drill out stripped bolt hole and get insert a compression nut ( its a threaded compression nut insert in hole and tighten (wegges itself tight). Or drill out and put nut on back that fits bolt . You may have to find slightly longer bolt.

If it's the bolt that's stripped, just get a new one. You can probably get one at Home Depot. It's just a bolt and nothing special.
