Any fellow effie owners (53-56) in Lou. area?

I have a 55 effie that I'm building and wanted to see if any one else is out there in the Louisville area? I'm in Oldham Co. Like to talk with a Ford engine man also, as I need help!!!

What kind of engine do you need help with?

Engine Help

Currently have a (68) 302 small block that is all original. It is worn out and a starting point for a 302. I've been listening and learning. Explorer97-01 has the roller 302 with gt40p heads. sounds like a good base to start with. Some guys have told me to look into bigblock... don't know about that and $$$ are limited.

I thought my motor was good (PO owner said completely rebuilt - another story) and didn't even plan on being in this situation. What are your opinions?

With the GT40P heads, exhaust can be an issue. The plugs are angled different and require a different header/manifold. Is your 68 engine a factory 2bbl or 4bbl. The 4bbl engines are pretty rare. My friend has a 68 Mustang GT with the factory 302 4V. It is the only year that the 4V was available until 83,84 and 85. (Not including the 69/70 BOSS 302)
I would look for a good 87-93 5.0 from either a Mustang or Lincoln Mark VII. These are the only true HO engines with the roller cams and E7TE heads. 225hp stock.
What is wrong with the 302 that you have now?

It is just worn out. I had the cylinder walls checked and they are worn .005 or more. I'm going with a build that I read about on sbftech.com Not radical... just a .030 over, nice cam, gt40p heads 3 angle valve job and roller rockers - new intake and carb. I'm not worried about header issues. Sanderson makes headers for the P heads although I would like to find some long tube headers.

Sounds good. You could always stroke it to a 331 or 347 for more torque :)

I looked into the Eagle kits and Woody's strokers over at sbftech.com decided to stay with what I had on hand. It will be a nice 306 with some getty-up. Not planning on racing, just street use.

Checked your gallery... nice 2008 stang! and others. I grew up at Ohio Valley as a kid in the 60s-70s. I was there every Saturday night... Ed Payne's "Golden Angel" Anglia - 55 nomad - Wompin Wagon - Frakes and Funk dual engine dragster - lot's good memories.

Hi, I'm in the Fern Creek area. Im rebuilding a '54 F-500 and I make the reproduction hood bird ornament for the mid fiftys trucks. Search 'those rare hood ornaments' for more info. There is a American Historical Truck Socity chapter that has regular meetings around town. Contact me or call Charlie at Power Train, 584-2412 This is a great group of guys, and at least one girl, that enjoy old trucks of all types.

I have a set of F5 chrome strips for an older hood if interested.

Let me know when and where the next meeting is? sounds like a good group of guys. My 55 is going to be a rod and look forward to seeing what others have.
