I spoke with my Ins Agent today and they quoted me $450/yr on my F450.......Now granted she did say that the 08's are NOT in th computer yet and that quote was based on the price and may change, but, they in NO WAY indicated it would be anything like what was mentioned earlier in the thread! Guess they are waiting on the crash test results.........if they read the posts on FTE they can read about one......:)
Understand that Ins rates are individual and change state to state as well as based on Where you live.
I don't feel $450/yr is bad at all.........here in po-dunk Pennsylvania

I'm new to the Ford Diesel world, but am gathering info for the Mom-in law because she's looking a a 450 or 550 (She travels full-time in a heavy fifth-wheel, and her current one-ton isn't up to the task)

are mid-8's for fuel mileage unloaded??
Is this normal?
Thanks!

Hmm. Interesting...

MConstable, You asked this in your own thread...............

Get the weight of the 5er and gear and make an educated decission. The F450 will do what ever she wants in a truck - 5er combination, Period!

Thanks for the abrasiveness...but...
apparently you don't understand my question.
She's set on a 450-550...there's NO question on that, never was!...question was is she better off with a leftover new truck with the 6.0...or an '08 with the 6.4??
One major point for her will be if the 6.4 is only getting an average of 8-10 mpg!
Thanks.

If you mean, me...I was inquiring about the mileage of the original poster's F-450, someone else in this thread asked the same thing, anticipating more info when the 6.4 engine got broken in, I think that's totally valid to the topic.
I do feel like Strut's .02 drug into left-field, though.
If that's considered hi-jacking I apologize!

back up camera

I got mine two weeks 2008 F250 msrp $55.300 every option available the only problem I am having is I want to install a back up camera in my truck that will work thru the GPS I saw that speedy55 has a GPS have you done any research in this field and by the way if they tell you impossible that is not true because the same system is in the lincolns with back up camera the only difference is in the navigator the backup camera eye is part of the third tail light on the top.
let me know if you see one how they did it?

SpeedE55 03-25-2007 09:02 PM

I haven't doen a thing about backup camera. So far i seem to do just fine with out it. I can back up to my trailer with out anybody helping me and I'm usually right on the money, or may have to get back in the truck once to get it lined up just right.

drisschoufa 03-25-2007 09:35 PM

thanks but the wife likes to drive this beast sometime and we are getting a 38 feet toyhauler so a back up camera is a must. and beleive I will get it done and post it here on how I did it and what it costed me.
by the way my interior is excactly the same as yours the outside colour is dark stone with the gold trim I have the two tone option I love this truck and the MPG that everyone is complaining about should not be an issue on 60k truck unless it is really unreasonably low I am getting 16 MPG on average on the highway 70 to 80 MPH using cruise controle and about 13.5 in the city that is not bad vue the size of my truck
F250 LWB 3.73 6.4 diesel.

thanks but the guy with tatoo can not aford to buy this truck because he is a driver making at best 30/hour so doing the math a truck at 60k+ is puching it for his budget.
yes the guy with LUCY tatoued on his ass will not need a camera because he will not be buying this truck unless his boss buys it for him and then his boss will propably put the camera just in case his driver decide to back up with LUCY on his lap.
