I'm going to read between the lines of the answer from the third question. "We can't afford another 6.0L disaster so we are going to test the hell out of it regardless of what new technology is in the new 6.4L"

It's great that they tested the new motor like that, I guess if they only knew what was going to happen with the 6.0L when it came out...

Sounds like they knew the 6.0 was going to be a POS from day one.

10 million miles sounds good and all, but from what I can recall it was the trucks that didn't get the bejesus ran out of them that had all the problems.

It seems like the 6.0 motto is that you "Need to drive it like you stole it" once in a while to keep the EGR and turbo from getting screwed up.

Around here for every 1 diesel I see pulling a massive load, I see 25+ doing things that a Fusion could be doing. Going to the grocery, starting and stopping before the temp needle moved, extended idling. Did these things get tested?

I know that around the fire/ems service we had tons of problems with the 6.0 from extended idling and the wierd way we operate them.

Also, is this engine ready for 2010 emissions or will we get another new one?

Funny...now that the 6.4L is coming out all the posts about its expected reliability, performance etc. are filling up the board. Those SAME type of posts filled up the board 4 years ago when the 6.0L was coming out. They supposedly tested the crap out of the 6.0L, too. Nobody foretold the disaster that happened.

Let's hope history doesn't repeat itself...but then again, what do I care? I dumped Ford stock awhile ago...

^^^ I don't think can afford another distaster. I think 6.4L will be great, otherwise ...

4.2L for the '10 F-150? I know for '09 the F-150 is supposed to recieve the 4.6L "baby Powerstroke"...or the 4.4L CGI blocked V8...can't remember now.

Hard to beleive there are those that still don't buy into the fact the the 6.0 was a POS

Mine's not a POS. I've got 82,000 miles on it now, and not one problem. The next truck I get will probably be another 6.0.

I would like to replace 'POS' with 'questionable' then :-)

That's better...I can deal with that.:)
