What Tires Do You Run?
 

Well,its time for tires on my truck.I have 35/13.50/16 Pro comp A/Ts but they were not very good on wet roads.What tires do you guys run and how are they working for you.I would like to go one size bigger maybe 325/80/16. I don't go in the mud,just sand and towing my 37 Foot 5thwheel camper. Thanks guys

i used to run 35-12.5-16.5 BFG all terrain radials on my 88, and they were very good on and off road. they were quiet and wore like iron also. i put 55,000 miles on them before we put them on my partners truck. he put another 30,000 on them before they started to blow out due to sidewall dry rot after 14 years.

BFG mud terrain radials. 36-12.5-16.5
the truck is no longer a road runner, and has been relegated to workhorse duty's now. mostly towing the car hauler under 50 miles, beach running for surf fishing, and snow plowing.
it is great in the sand and snow, but it stinks on wet roads. not enough rubber on the road for the power of the engine. when you kick it on wet roads, it just sits there and spins the tires.

Thats what my pro comp tires do..I like the look of the mud terrains,but if they act the same way I guess I better keep looking..Thanks again.

savage2211 - from your description stay away from mud terrains and get an all terrain tire. Besides the BFG AT take a look at the Bridgestone Revos. A lot of SD guys seem to like them and they are rated well on Tire Rack. Make sure you get the right load rated tire for your truck too.

I had 35-12.5-16.5 BFG All terrains on my old 89 250 Diesel, they wore like iron. Had Mud terrains before that but wore the tread off in chunks and still drove back to Philly from Connecticut with the steel belts showing and 6000 lbs in the bed. That's why I bought the A/Ts the next day. I put 60,000 miles on them and they still looked new.

I have 39-15.5-15 Swampers on my truck now that I have no idea how old they are.
Just picked up a set of 38-15-16.5 Swamper TSL Radials (used) with 17/32 of tread left. Dont really know how they will handle daily driving, I may put some siping on the tread for better street performance.

I like the look of the BFG mud terrains but will they last like the A/T. How do they do on wet roads? Thanks you all of your input guys...

The A/Ts where much better for everyday driving, weren't bad in wet weather. I put a lot of miles on when estimating jobs in all kinds of weather and they gave me good service.

If you are going to get a mud terrain tire like the BFG, have it siped. It will make a world of difference. As Joe said though, an all terrain like the BFG is the better way to go. Some other options for you besides the BFG and Revos would be look at Toyo and Nitto tires. I actually like them better than the BFG's even though the BFG's have been my standby tires for years.

I had these on my Bronco till I switched to a Mud Tire. I was quite happy with them. I still have 2 in my basement for emergencies that have over 40k and still passable tread.

I have the stock Continentals on my F350, which aren't the greatest as I'm sure you know. On my '87 F150 I put on a set of Kumho MT 31x11.5x15s and they worked very well in the snow.

I see they have a newer tire with a different tread on them now too.

I bought them over the other tires because they were a lot less expensive than the BF Goodrich at the time and they rated really well on www.tirerack.com survey. I see their prices have risen considerably since I bought them approx. six years ago.

Do any of you run 35's on a stock truck - no lift?
