add a leafs
 

anybody know where i can get some 3" add a leafs for my 78 f150 around here?? I want a cheap pair of used ones. I have 3" susp now and if i put those 3" aal on i'll have 6" susp correct??

I have never seen an add a leaf that gives 3 inches of lift. Im not sure if you are confused or not, your 78 uses a 3" wide spring so the aal would need to be that wide. As far as lift, they usually only give you about 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 inches and 2 1/2 is not common. If your sig is correct then you have 3" body and 3" suspension now, that should be more than enough for your 35's. Am I missing something???

yea. i know i have 6" total now. i want 9" total so i can fit either 39.5's or 42's. I found this on jeffsbroncograveyard... http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-...long_pair.html. on there it says it'll give 3" of lift on a pickup.

Now it makes sense. I would call them to double check. Being you have lift springs which have more of an arch to them than stock I doubt those aal's will do the trick....not 3 inches worth anyway. I added a full length aal to a Bronco I previously owned and and it did raise it close to 3 inches on a stock spring then a buddy tried it on his truck with a 4 inch lift and it did not raise the truck at all. If you compare the arch of the speings you will see what I mean.

well i would do some checking but i would not use a suspison lift and a body lift together, it is not recommend, sec i have a 6 inch on mine and i can run 38's. but i have to ask a question do you realize with that much lift the truck would be unsafe with that short of a wheel base. and your gas milage is going to sux

how would it be unsafe?? my buddy had a 84 scottsdale 17" of lift with 44's. And i dont really care about the gas mileage, its just a toy.

the bronco has a short wheel base and it would be very top heavy and the center of gravity will be very high. that is what i am trying to say. i had a bronco and it would jack knive, real bad pulling a trailer. i like the broncos but i just dont want any one to hurt, you can lift if you want but becareful driving it. it will handle a lot different.

alright thanks man! I was just thinking that a full size truck doesnt have a short wheel base. its a f150 long bed. so how would i get 6" in the back without putting new spring packs on it??

i miss readed my bad. i thought it was a bronco :-X21 but i bought a kit for my 73 f100 long bed. same as the 79. it was a complete kit 6 inch superlift. had the blocks and add a leafs, and new coils and bushing track arm drop pit man arm. and pro comp es 1000 shocks, through 4wheelparts center. and i also got super swamper tsl. with shipping for around 1300.00. now you can still get parts there for a lift. for the older trucks but i think the only company that still make kits for them is superlift that is what mine is. they make one up to 9 inches for the trucks. maybe a 12 inch not sure.

for now i only want 9" total with 39.5's or 42's. so in the kit they gave ya blocks and aal's?? can u get me the sizes for them. or tell me what they are. i'm going to use the stock block cause its 3"s. But if u can get me a part number for the aal??

ok well after i jacked it up and let the weight off the suspension. the 6" coils i bought are the same height as the ones on there now. The rear has an add a leaf in it. so i guess im sitting with 6" susp now. but my truck is still short i think. do yall think i can clear 39.5's with out rubbing?

Im running an all spring 6" lift and clear 37's no problem. IIRC you also had a 3" body lift so with all that together you should be looking at 9" or so of lift. I think that will clear 39.5's as long as your measurements are correct and the springs are not soft. Also double check the actual height of the tire while it is mounted. I have seen many which claim to be a specific size but in reality they ran a bit short.....I have seen a 1 1/2 inch difference so its worth checking.

ok... i lied....i think i have 4" coils. the ones i bought were 19-1/8" long. I'm looking at some 6"(really 6" this time) and seeing how i have an add a leaf in there already, i'm going to get a 1" steel block and put under my 3" block so that will make 6" correct? A 1" block is what the 6" kit give you right??

dude I'm new to lift and such but I don't think I would stack blocks that could be dangerous :-X22
