Whoa my truck has the shakes!!!!
 

So recently had HD springs installed and they did a front end alignment and everything was great until yesterday and today, when i get on the highway and go above 60 my wheel shakes almost so much that it's difficult to hold onto just back and forth frome left to right constantly and then if i get off the highway and drive on local roads it's normal and i dont feel anything..... So im not exactly sure of what it is, i thought that maybe my rotors were warped but then why wouldnt the truck shake all the time... i dunno but im gonna make an appointment with the dealer im just trying to figure out what it may be before i do, any ideas?

well im not sure whats causing the shakes but it seems strange it doesnt do it on all roads.you said at 60 on the highway,did you try 60 on reg. roads.also i still want to get those springs myself ,did you ever post pics with the new springs but without the plow.i may have missed it if you did.curious if they have a lifting effect on the front end and how much.

Take the truck to a good tire shop and have ALL four wheels balanced. Then have them rotate the tires. My truck did the same thing at 65-70 on the open road. Instead of taking it back to the dealer, I took it to a tire dealer I have done business with for over 30 yrs. He did what I told you and then went with me to road test it. No wheel vibration whatsoever. Good luck!

make sure the lugs are on tight- had a dealer miss that little point once. Apparently he didn't show up to class on lug nut day (thanks ron white :))

Balancing would be my first step because I had an experience where at a tire rotation a wheel weight fell off and that was the root cause of my vibration.

Makes me wonder if they forgot to tighten your outer tie-rods after the alignment.

Gee, I wonder if they remembered to reconnect the shocks after swapping out the springs

Hey there Fordtruckman,

First off check all of the usual suspects...... tire pressure/cupping, lug nuts, alignment, caster/camber. Once all is checked now take a good look at your shocks. I have had this happen to me before. The truck shakes so voilently that it is almost impossible to control until you slow it down and then the process repeats itself once you get back up to speed. Usually what happens is that you have one bad front shock and one good front shock. When you start driving and hit a given speed the weight of your truck no longer exceeds the weight of your front end at a given frequency. Your truck now begins to resonate at that very frequency causing a very uncomfortable and dangerous condition. So after checking all of the usual suspects and very informed man suggested I try new front shocks and amazingly enough it worked. No more shaking. In retrospect, I can remember hitting a pretty deep pothole at about 45MPH. In your case, your new springs may be enough to let the weak link (your front shocks) rear its ugly face. Hope this helps.
