yoko geolander vs toyo tires
I am going to have to buy tires soon and was wondering how good these tires are and the life expectancy of Yokohama Geolander A/T and the Toyo open country M/T. I will run 285/75/r16. Looking for quiet, and long life, with good traction. Any help would be appreciated.

My Fiancee has the Geolander's on her Ranger. They work great on all situations, the only thing I noticed is the traction grooves in the tires, even on the 235/75's are HUGE and they like to pick up and hold onto rocks and let them loose at about 65 MPH. Otherwise, they rock.

I have yokos on my 02 f350 srw psd. They seem ok, but I have yet to find a tire that will last on this pickup. I had michelins prior, got about 45000 out of them, but paid 170/tire. I got the yokos for 110, so far I have about 35000 on em, but they are getting worn. they seem to need balancing more often than the michelins. but the ride is ok and they are quiet

I have had 2 sets of 285 BFG A/T's that lasted better than 60k per set, but at $900 a set mounted and balanced, they can be expensive. The last set I bought were Nitto Terra Grapplers, in a 295. $600 mounted and balanced, and they went nearly 70k. Ordered a second set that are sitting in my garage right now. My truck was stolen 2 days before they were to be mounted. I will stay with the Nitto's myself. Great traction, wear, low noise, smooth ride.
By the way, most of my mileage is at 80 MPH, and heat is hard on tires. |

The Geolander A/T's I had on my Expedition were quite at first but started to howl like a mud tire after 10k.

I run 285 bfg at in the winter, they were $730 on the truck about 3months ago at
discount tire in portage. |
I have the Yoko Geolander AT/S's on my Land Rover and they have done pretty well in wear and traction. Very decent, reasonably priced.
I am also running Bridgstone Dueler AT Revo's on my Touareg and love them! It would be my first choice it the tires on the F350 needed replacing. |
I have the Geolanders on my truck and I love them, the only gripe that I do have, like was previously mentioned, is they like to hold onto rocks in between the tread and then let them go at about 40 MPH. I have a good 35000 on mine and I think I can get about 15000 more out of them safely.

Another vote for the Yoko's. Over the years I've had great results with their tyres. The only props I'll give BFG's is that they last a long time, otherwise I've not found them to be spectacularly better than anything else (except ofcourse the continentals !!!) :)
