1960 Rebuilt Steering Box

Does anyone know where I can get a steering box rebuilt. I can get a used one but no one seems to have rebuilts. Tried a few on-line stores and Napa and the answer is the same - can't get it for a 60. Any suggestions??

LAST EDITED ON 15-Oct-01 AT 06:28 PM (EST)[p]You got lucky as I was reading this post I was looking through my Sacramento Vintage Ford catalog. They do sell them rebuilt as Exchange only.. but they are a little pricy at $450.00 for your truck the part number would be # 7177. Goto their website at www.vintageford.com for contact info. Someone out there may be able to find it cheaper for ya.. But they have it.

Pick up the latest issue of Hemmings. In the Ford truck section you will find a company called LARES. I think that they are in Michigan. I think that they would do it for around $250. Good Luck.

If you want it cheaper... Mac's sells the parts for around $150.
Then just go get the old worm gear pressed off and the new pressed on. The bearing preload is nothing to worry about. They'll be able to instruct. Did it to mine and it works great.
I did'nt have to worry about the bushings.

Hi,

have you tried Dennis Carpenter?
I think they are cheaper...

I also own a 60 truck up north in Seattle. Do you know of any good places for body parts (fenders etc.)? Up here everything's a'rustin away.

Try A1 Truck Salvage in Yuba City. He has 2 or 3 60's sitting there.

Have you thought about putting power steering on it instead?
