Fuse keeps popping?

Was wondering if anyone else has had this problem? My 30 Amp fuse in the box under the hood, #22 keeps on popping. It doesnt pop instantly, I can put a new fuse in and start the engine and after 10- 15 min. engine stalls due to fuse popping. Just wondering if anyone else has had this same problem and found a cure? I'm going to try a hook up my code reader and see if anything comes up. THANKS!!

The heater in your fuel filter housing is prob bad, unplug it and test again

Yup...your fuel heater under the filter is shorted out. Their is a connector to disconnect to verify the probem. Ya can just leave it disconnected if ya want.

Do you know if there is a test that can be done for the fuel heater?

ltfox 11-29-2006 11:02 PM

Yes...unplug the heater and the fuse should stop popping. The heater shorting out is a very common problem.

Do you know what wire to disconnect?

rockyrider 11-30-2006 06:37 AM

I unplugged mine from the outside of fuel bowl. On a 97 it was 2nd wire from top, driver side, small spade plug. If I remember correctly it was red wire with a green tracer.

Some people unplug them from inside the bowl. And other people repair/upgrade them.
I left mine unplugged, no problems.
