Boost Bypass???

I Have An 04 Lightning With Jdm Intake Diablo Chip, line Mod,full Exhaust, and A 4# Pully. No Boost Bypass Can Some One Explain What It Is And How To Install It .....and What Should I Expect To Run In 1/4 Mile

This has been argued on the Lightning boards for awhile now. So take my post with a grain of salt.

There is ZERO performance to be had with this "mod". Some guys will argue this point, but their assertions are not based on scientific evidence. There is no empirical data proving any performance gain is associated with this modification.

Doing a boost bypass doesn't add any boost or performance whatsoever, like some believe it does. It only keeps the engine from dumping boost under certain conditions, like when your in the waterbox at the track doing a burnout, or on the street, in the rain, when you punch it and peg the RPM's before the tranny can react and shift gears.

The boost bypass is only be a failsafe mechanism to counter situations where a temporary spike of over-boost can be created.

The reason you don't want this to happen at the track is because after you do the burnout, the boost bypass is still "lingering" for lack of a better term, and when the light turns green and you punch it, it leaves the line like a dog, with no boost, and feels like a standard F150, not a Lightning.

If you want the boost bypass for when you race at the track, do what I do: unplug it.

Just remember to plug it back in after you're done for the day, otherwise you'll eventually trip a DTC and your SES light will activate.
