F3TE vs E7TE

Has anyone swapped out their E7TE heads for F3TE's? Do you have any hard data on improved performance HP, fuel milage?

The F3TE has a 2.08 intake valve vs a 1.97 for the E7TE. It also has a Hi-Swirl intake bowl. It looks like it would offer better low and mid range power. I'm just wondering if Ford did this for lower emissions as well.

I'm building a replacement engine for my 89 F-350 SC Dually. Any feedback is appreciated.

i have the e7s in my 92 ef1 460 and was thinking about looking for some f3s,the newer heads are good for 15-20hp gain, but since they have the smaller combustion chamber i was wondering if they are more prone to pinging and detonation when they naturally build up a little carbon in the chambers,,,,,so for now i'll stick with the e7s,heard the f3's were redesigned for better emissions and even did away with the catalytic convertor in 93

so would it be better to port the stock e7's or go with the f3's? Or ported f3's?

specs on these heads?

how much increase in compression with the f3's?

E7TE and F3TE chambers are the same bathtub quench/wedge design. The F3 chamber is tighter to the exhaust valve and ever so slightly smaller. The F3 has a 2.1" intake valve vs the E7's 2.0" intake valve. The F3 intake port is offset to promote more swirl in the flow column where the E7 has a revised D3 intake bowl.

Both utilise a very small raised high velocity intake port passage of about 210 CC's where the doves are about 270 and the iron cj's are about 320.

There were some ECM changes in 93 that are also responsible for the increased power.
