Looking for anyone with Unibodys who wouldn't mind measuring the width across the top of the tailgate and inside where the bed where the tailgate goes. I have quite a gap in this area and need to know whats the normal spacing. My measurments are 661/2" across the top, and 671/2" in the opening at the top and bottom. Thanks.

A63,
My '61 Uni measures the same as yours and then about 3 inches down on the tailgate where the body line starts, it moves out to 67".

Thanks, that seems to be the way they all are. Been getting the same from all who have answered. Sure would be nice to close up the gap some, like the newer trucks.
Thanks

just picked up on your question. Just measured my 63 ford unibody shortbed 67 1/2 top and bottom. space on either side about 5/16. my truck is low milage. if pickups are used with the tailgate down the sides will change position overtime. tailgates should always be closed.

They should be closed if you *have* a tailgate on your truck!!
