1st Blackstone report
 

Ok guy's here is my first report, the oil is Rotella T 5W/40 syn, and the oil had a tad over 3,000 miles mostly towing, and has been in my truck since about January. ( I did not do a ton of driving this year)

Every thing sounds good in the report. the only this I'm a little worried about is the part about (fuel dilution) How does the oil get diluted.

From Blackstone:
Nothing too unusual showed up in the intital sample from your Power Stroke. All wear read at or below averages for this type of engine, which is a very good indication of normal wearing parts. Universal averages show nromal wear after about 5,200 miles use on the oil. The flash point was low enough to show minnor fuel dilution though not more than out problem level of 2.0%. It didn't hurt the viscosity. Well keep an eye on the fuel during the next sample. The TBN was strong at 11.1%, showing lots of active additive left. 1.0% is low. Sugest resampling in 3,000 miles.

At that level it is nothing to worry about but do keep an eye on it over the next few changes. Usually and injector o-ring starts leaking and a little fuel gets in the oil. if it show a trend of getting worse the look to replace the injector o-rings

sounds pretty good for a 2000 truck. what kind of filter was used? was the oil sampled cold, or after the engine was warmed up fully? i took mine cold, but made a note of it. they said fuel dilution could be higher if the engine was cold because it wouldn't burn completely off. my fuel dilution was <0.5%. my numbers looked a little bit better (by one or two PPM except the additives) i guess because mine was newer than yours. how many miles is on the engine? i sampled mine at 4000 (same oil) when i changed it out, and they said it would be good for 5500-6000 miles on the oil. so, im going to put 5K on it, sample it, and then see what happens from there.

Thanks guy's with this being my 1st test I was kinda worried, that they would find some thing going bad & was going to cost a ton of $$$, but I shouldn't have since I take care of her.

I have 88K on the truck, and the oil filter was a Motor Craft, and the oil was cold & noted for the sample.

As for changing the O rings on the injectors is it as detailed has replacing the injectors? Do you have to blow out or suck the fuel out of the cylinders like I have read on here. Or can you just pull change the ring & replace.

Also where can I find just the O rings if I need to change them down the road.

Nope, unless you have figured out a way to suck the oil out of the injector oil passage prior to pulling the injector. Typically everyone will evacuate the cylinder after pulling injectors.

I am still looking hard at the design of that system. I am thinking that the fuel and oil can be evacuated from the feed ports and plugs at the rear of the block as this is the lowest point. I've also thought that the HP oil galley can then be filled from the front or the lines somehow to get up and running quicker. Isn't that HPO galley a dead end system? My oil I saw there in the plugs during HPX line install was the blackest oil I have seen in my truck. :mad: Bake Baking away. :-lamesign

Rich dont rush into the injectors just yet wait for the next change and see if it is getting worse. At the level they found it wont hurt anything just yet they just wanted you to be aware that over the next several test to note if it is increasing or not.
