Strange uses for Clay Bar
So, I found a strange but insteresting use for clay bars. The other day I left a pamphlet in the back seat of my EXP which has leather seats. Anyway, as you might guess the ink from the pamphlet bled onto the leather (tho not a lot). When I saw that I was sure I was SOL.
Anyway, I busted out the Lexol and started trying to scrub the stain out, but no luck. I even tried using scalding water with a generous amount of Lexol to no avail. Anyway, I had just finished a yearly detail wax (clay + cleaner + polish + synthethic wax + carnaba ovrecoat) so I figured I'd give the clay a try. What I did was spray the lexol directly on the leather with just a sprinkle of water, then I worked it up to a good lather and gently scrubbed with the clay. It worked great. I was real gentle to avoid scuffing with the clay and it scrubed the ink off with almost no effort. I'm guessing that it wasn't just the clay but rather the whole affair was contributing, but it seemed to work real well. I'd also guess it's not something you do except as a last resort =) Anyway, just thought I'd pass this along. Miles Teg |

This is great info. Do you mind if I pass your procedure along? |
What did you use on the leather after the cleaning process to keep it from drying out?
