Another step closer, paint on the truck

Well, I finally made a big step forward on our project truck this week. It figures that it was the hottest week of the year, but we got thru it. It took us over 3 days to get this step done, from wet sanding the second time, to clearcoat. Of course, we are on month 20 for the entire project LOL
Here is a picture before we put it back together;

Here are the photo galleries for the second round of wet sanding, thru
clear coat. My goal now, is to have it on the street, (Legally) by Sept 1.

WOW!!!! :-bigparty

You just don't know how much I hate you right now lol :-headbang

Looking fantabular!! Are you going to register it as an antique so it doesn't need and inspection?

Looks great !!!!!! Can't wait to see it trimmed out.

You got to watch that "antique vehicle" registration. You get a few breaks, but there are a BUNCH of restrictions with it as well.

Franken-Truck 08-10-2006 07:32 PM

Just how bad are the restrictions?

tekrsq 08-11-2006 07:46 AM

I'm not exactly sure, but I know one of the big ones is a mileage restriction. You are only allowed something like 8,000 miles/yr with it (not sure exact number, but it's not a lot). A buddy wanted to register his 67 Mustang as "antique" last year, but once he looked into, he said it was too much of a hassle for a even a "semi-daily" driver. One of his big things was the very limited mileage per year. If I can get hold of him, I'll try to find out exactly what else. In the mean time, you probably just call the State Police and ask.

Antique tags are not that restrictive, unless you plan on using it as a daily driver. Here is the VA DMV site: http://www.dmv.virginia.gov/webdoc/c...es/antique.aspWith all of the auto related shows going on, you could drive a whole bunch of miles, and not having any problems.

Hey Rocket, killer flames, I'd like to see them up close someday.
I just finished sanding & buffing my bed and rear fenders last night. Now it's time to re-install the bed tonite.
