1953 panel

just looked at a 53 panel today that the owner wants $1000 for. He's had it for 10 years and hasn't done anything with it. I added the pictures of it to my gallery, but it doesn't show how bad the floor inside is. I think the panel may be too far gone to save, but it would make great upper body patches for someone doing a restore or part repair. I mainly want the fenders and hood which are pretty good. Doors are shot, as is the one hood.
Can anyone tell me if the frame is the same as the short box pickup, or is it different all together?
Was thinking it should be worth around $400 to $500 for parts. What do you think?????

Looks like some good parts for your '53 project. You shouldn't have any problem craigslisting the rest. Someone in YVR or SEA will snatch them up!

The Panel's use the same frame as the Pickups, with the addition of two extensions ont eh C-Channels of the frame rails at the back. So yo just have to grind off the rivets as I did to make it a short box P-U.

The taillights, license plate light and bracket, rear bumper, rear doors if salvagable, rear door holdopen mechanism if present, rear door hardware, all if useable are worth 500.00 alone to a panel truck owner IMHO.

The doors, rear bumper and the rear door "hold open" mechanism are the biggest items. I just saw a set of the rear door "hold open" mechanism sell on eBay for over $100.

I would agree that $400-500 is a fair price for the Panel. I wouldn't pay much more. If the seller doesn't agree, then let him sit on it for a few months and then come back with the same offer. It might work!

Thanks for the info, I will try an offer and see what happens.
