1971 F100 4x4 upgrades

I have a 1971 F100 Custom 4x4 with an open knuckle Dana 44 front end, and I have read about converting it to power steering, as well as power disk brakes. How would I go about this? What years can I easily interchange the parts? I know the gear box has to be torn apart and something switched so the box can mount in the stock possition, what is that? Thanx in advance for the help.

1971 F100 4x4 upgrades

Hi there- I put power steering on my '71 4wd in '87, following instructions from some iowa farmer named Ibeling. The change involved some cutting and welding, and the installation of a steering box from a 3/4 ton van. I did my after the stock box broke as Iwas going down the highway, apparently it couldn't take the stain of turning my 38's. Scared the crap out of me as I went off into a cornfield unable to steer, no other damage to truck, the conversion went on just fine even tho it already had a trailmaster lift.Ibeling's instructions also explain how to make sure you don't lose turning abilitywhen lifted and don't have bumpsteer. If you can't find Mr Ibeling let me know and I will dig thru my papers and see if I still have his instructions. I recently purchased an open knuckle axle w/ disk brakes,am hoping to swap them on to my drum brake axle, will let you know. DinosaurFan
