an idea for methanol?

well i just thought man wouldnt it be cool if you could get methanol for free? then i thought well its just 97 ocatace fuel right? i think??? well why dont u make a E85 fuel maker? thats 102 ocatane. then you have fuel for your bioD and any gas cars/trucks/toys you have.
will this work?

E85 is Ethanol and gas

you can make bio from ethanol but it's difficult

and if you had a E85 maker?why not just run a gas engine

monsterbaby 06-21-2006 08:51 PM

not only is it difficult but as I understand it, you need something like 98% pure ethonal, E85 is at best 85%.

Haha, gas. im 16, the first truck i ever bought was my PSD, the next truck i buy will be a diesel, then next truck after that will be diesel, then i might buy a diesel car. i love diesels, dont think id ever buy a gas job.
and i dont have a E85 maker, but if it would work for bio id make one just so i can pay very little for corn and sugar for the fuel and not 4 bux for methanol.
just a thought

No because the part that isn't ethonal is water and water kills the reaction.

79f-250custom 06-21-2006 09:35 PM

so it would not work?
thanks
Mitch

99.5 percent Rob, 98 percent is the best you can get even with a reflux still.

Once you get to 98 percent you have to pump it through a "moleculer-seive", normally "zeolite"

The production of ethanol is controlled by ATF and should not be pursued without Fed permits. That said, making ANY alcohol is dangerous, and can get you blown up! [ I seem to remember a great uncle in LA.:) ].

I was reading this and about to impose that Fab would set it all out there with the molecular filter, and he did. If only I could download a portion of your memoirs directly into my head. Hey Fab did I get it right with the light sensor?
