Explorer rough ride??
Hello everyone,
I can always count on someone out there who has this very same problem/issue.... I've got an 01 Explorer Ltd, with about 50K on the clock. My problem is bumps!!! My god, this thing rides like a lumber wagon. I do not think tires alone can be the root cause. Could I need shocks????? I've tried to get the rear end to bounce up and down (to test for shock replacement), but it doesn't move. Can someone give me 'some' advice?? I realize mine is a 2nd Gen X, and the 3rd gen have IRS, which is what I really want..... Thanks for everyone's help!!! Metauser :-huh |
Yeah I own an 02 X with IRS and its pretty decent compared to my dads 01 EB X without IRS. If yours has Leaf springs I would look at getting a new pair. And even after you change your shocks Explorers/Ford is known for a stiff suspension will generally be a rough ride.

WOW, new leaf springs?! What the F? Really??? I'm assuming it should be an after market thing such as Rancho or someother lift kit supplier??? Got any tips??

Leaf springs last forever.
It's rough cause it's a truck chassis.....the same design since the year 1903. |
