Code 332 on 94 F150

I have a 94 F150 that the service engine soon light has been coming on intermittently for the past two weeks. I finally pulled the codes last night and what I got was a 332: EGR valve opening not detected. I have had the truck for a year now and since I bought it there has been what sounds like a vacuum leak when you turn the truck off. A guy at autozone said it sounds like the EGR Vacuum Solenoid. Is there anyway this solenoid could be causing the SES light and is there any way I can test this solenoid?

yes, the solenoid could be the cause.

The job of the solenoid is to supply about 7mmHg to the EGR valve when the computer wants EGR; otherwise it is to vent the EGR line to atmosphere. The vacuum input line to the EGR solenoid should be at engine vacuum ~20mmhg.

Its not uncommon for the vacuum lines to be the culprit either, some testing will need to be done to further isolate it. Other posibilities are a sticking EGR valve, or an intermittant EGR position sensor.

Honestly, I'd just check for main engine vacuum leaks, replace both vacuum lines off the solenoid and clean the EGR valve. If it shows up again then look into it more.
