idea

Hey guys im wanting ot put a some of that neon strip. You know the stuff they use to dress up the interior.

But what im wanting do is, after i get a billet grill. Im gonna run it in strips on a 6x6(inch) square of sheet metal. And mount it behind the grill. Then cut another peice of sheet metal to the design i want. So basically i can flip a switch and see this design through my grill.

the question is. how much would this effect on my radiator air flow. Would it cause me any problems?

Thanks,
Anthony

you'll want to be careful with that. I was talking to a cop I know the other day and at least here in oregon you can't have those lights on the outside of your car (well have them turned on technicaly). it sucks cuz people sell them advertizing it that way but don't tell you that you can get a ticket for it. with that said I think it would look awsome and you should have enough room. if you made the thing small enough or if you put holes in the back peice of metal for air flow it shouldn't be that big of a deal. just don't show it to cops.

Another trick that would help would be to create an air dam below the radiator to draft the air from underneath just like a more modern vehicle. Cars and trucks built today use plastic air dams all the time that’s why you don’t see as many grills on the newer cars. When I do a turbo charger and intercooler install on a non turbo rice burner I actually cut the factory front bumper and build a tubular one that encloses the intercooler. Next I have to build a large air dam to scoop the air into the Intercooler & Radiator to get as much air as possible. I fabricate mine with 18ga sheet metal. Depending on your design you could draft all the air from below the radiator and not trough the grill but I don’t recommend it. Also Electric fans work best when doing this as to create optimal draw through.
As Trumpboy77 sugested holes through your desighn would also be a good idea.
