Nav system

Just curious if anyone has any info on the new Nav system, or anyone from the assembly line has seen it first hand... seems that it is a little more current than the 5 year old technology of the 06 model... but I am curious if the graphics and operation make it worth while for the convenience of the Ford integrated solution over an aftermarket nav system that will be cutting edge.

Anyone know where the Nav DVD unit is? Under seat? And if the Nav and radio are all one unit?

Also, the order guide states that the Rear video system requires the "In-dash 6-CD", which does not make it clear as to whether it will work with the Nav system with 6 CD changer.

Thanks... I have found a bunch of pics... it's a shame that even the new 07 Nav system is outdated even before it comes out! :)

I have been looking at the new Pioneer Z1, that should fit right in the same space, has tons more functionality, more modern upgradable interface, and is cheaper!

Oh well... so much for an all in one solution direct from Ford that is anywhere near the current state of the art.

According to the order guide, the navigation/radio unit also has a built-in 6 CD changer. By looking at the picture I don't even see the slot for the cd's, let alone the navigation DVD. Would the nav DVD and the 6 CD changer share the same loading slot??

Mine was ordered with both the Nav/Radio and the Rear Entertainment System, so you must be able to do both. Just got a build date of 7/31.

My guess is that the drive in teh dash is CD and they mount the DVD nav drive under the seat... that is how I have seen it on other vehicles.

The Pioneer unit has a 30gig hard drive... so you install the nav through the dash drive and do not need the dvd any more... then the dash drive can be also used for upgrades, CD, mps, etc.

Congrats on your order date! When did you place the order? I am curious to hear how backlogged they are at startup... what trim level did you order? colors?

Jeff,

I ordered on 5/01/06 (The first day they took orders).
It was given a VIN on 06/01/06 & submitted to plant. (1FMFK185X7LA00974)
It has a scheduled build date the week of 07/31/06.

I think the plant is shut down right now, start up production for the '07s is scheduled for 7/19/06.

I have ordered a 2007 Expedition EL Eddie Bauer 4X4, Redfire Metallic w/Camel Interior. (I wanted Med Wedgewood Blue but they don't offer that any more.)

Options:
Convenience Pkg, Safety & Security Pkg, HD Trailer Tow Pkg, Pwr Liftgate, Pwr Moonroof, Chrome Ext Tip, Climate Controlled Seats, Rear Seat DVD Entertainment System, Touch Screen DVD Navigation/Radio.

That Camel interior has some other accent color, right? The EB charcoal interior I believe has camel accents... the pictures I have seen that appea to be EB with chracoal interior seem to have more than camel accents... looks to me like the entire dash and doors and center of the seats are camel, and the rest of the seats and console are charcoal... to me that is camel with charcoal accents. Either way, YUCK!

I hope you lke the camel interior... was it stone acents?
