302 Flywheel on a 240 Crank???

I am getting ready to install a Mazda 5spd. in my '67 F-250 out of a '90 F-150. Someone told me that my clutch is a 10" clutch. Is this true?:-X11 I got a brand new clutch with the tranny but it is 11". Can I use the flywheel that I got with the tranny or do I have to have my flywheel drilled and tapped for an 11"...or is my current clutch 11"???

302 Flywheel on a 240 Crank???

I don't think the 90 302 fylwheel will work on the 240, the newer 302 engines are balanced differently than the 240. I used a 240 flywheel on a 289 I dropped into a 67 Merc 1/2 ton and it worked ok. I'm not 100% sure but the 90 trans may have a smaller bellhousing than the one in your truck. I'd make sure that there's clearance inside it for the bigger clutch before bolting everything in. The easiest way to do this might be to compare both bellhousings. If my memory is correct I think the 67 240 I had did have the bigger 11" clutch in it already.

The '67 F-250 w/240 should have an 11" clutch (the '67 F-150 w/240 is supposed to have a 10" clutch). Sometimes the flywheels are drilled and tapped for both size clutches. DO NOT use a V-8 flywheel on a 240/300 six or vice/versa. The six flywheels are "zero" balanced. The 289/302 flywheels up thru '79 have a 28 oz. imbalance while the '80 up 302 flywheels have a 50 oz. imbalance. Anyone who has interchanged flywheels between the V-8 and the six most certainly would have noticed a pronounced vibration as soon as the engine was started for the first time.

What FordKnut said. I know from personnel experience that he is right. I have a good 240 flywheel from a '70 F100 laying around somewhere. Let me know if you don't find one and I will dig it out.
