Aviation Buffs...
The pic I chose for my avitar came from this site... http://www.collingsfoundation.org/menu.htm
There's lots of great shots in the air as well as on the ground. Some of the finest warbirds to ever fly are there to see AND The Collings Foundation actually tours with some of them. Enjoy. AL. :-wink |
That is a cool site :-X22 I don't know much the old/vintage planes BUT I do like looking at them!!!!

Required reading for Canadians...
At one time in aviation history, we had what would/should have been the worlds most butt kickin' aircraft. Try not to curse the polititians for what they did.
Read This: http://www.avro-arrow.org/ Enjoy. AL. :-wink On Edit.......... If you need to know how the government killed the Arrow, READ THIS: http://search.cbc.ca/search?ie=&site...rrow&x=25&y=13 |
Heh, I know quite a bit about the Avro Arrow. I actually fly R/C airplanes or I did when I was younger, I'm just starting to get back into it this year. Ever gone to Trenton air base for the air shows?

The Town of Rocky Mountain House about 40 minutes from me has proposed a new community for their area.
They have an old air strip and they want to build high end homes along each side of for private air plane owners or Pilots of private corporate planes. Just think ! fly in and park the plane on your apron in your yard :) |
private air field
Only makes sense to do that , they have been putting boats in backyards for a long time ,
I wish someone would do that for racers , put up a bunch of new homes around a 1/4 mile drag strip , I use to love waking up at cayuga and hearing the guys and gals working on their cars. big daddy chuck |
To Continue....
The P51 Mustang was not made by Ford, but it sure was fast.
http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircr...aircraft_id=77 The AVRO (same guys as the ARROW) Lancaster had a bigger payload capacity than the beloved B-17. At last count, there were only 2 (two) Lancasters flying in the world and one lives just outside of Hamilton, ONTARIO.http://www.militaryfactory.com/aircr...aircraft_id=77 Enjoy. AL. :-wink |
I love planes....particularily those with piston engines. You can't beat the sound of a big airplane engine.
**First post in over two weeks. I think I've finally beat the gremlin that's been plaquing me and not allowing me to access FTE. |
The worlds favorite workhorse...
Most recognized by the name "DC-3".
http://www.centercomp.com/dc3/ I haven't seen the one that was flying out of Oshawa yet this year. So the story goes......It was flying rush parts orders for GM between Oshawa & St.Kits. Here's another link that looks interesting... http://www.travelcentre.com.au/trave...c3_history.htm AL. :-wink Have a look at this link for the Boeing B-17.... http://www.warbirdalley.com/b17.htm There's all kinds of links on the left that will keep you busy for HOURS !!!! |
I've seen it. If it's not the one it was another DC3 for sure.

I've now spent an hour looking through the pictures on the Warbird Alley page. Anyone ever been to the Hamilton International Airshow? It's a great show and maybe someday I'll make it back.

I noticed this week that the Harvards across the road from my parents' farm are back in the air. Seems they fly them 2-3 times per week, they sound pretty cool, especially when they buzz the (grass) landing strip.

I got most of my oove of airplanes from the stories my dad told me about the war.
He was an aircraft mechanic servicing the:Lancaster,Halifax,& Spitfire. During WW II he carved out a model of a spitfire from a piece of spitfire propellor. I played with it as a child until I broke the prop on it. |
