I have a 4.9 which I needed to replace cam gear and crank gear. I have looked and can not locate or find the crank gear and cam gear replacement tool. dealership and supply houses were no help. location and or parts number would be appreciated. Do not want to beat on for fear of damaging crank or cam any idea would be appreciated.

Before you remove either gear make sure the engine is TDC on No 1 Cyl & the marks on the two gears are aligned . The easiest way to remove the cam gear is place a chisel on it & hit it with a hammer , it will break fairly easily . Otherwise a 3 jaw puller will work . The Ford Part numbers for the installation tools are : Cam Gear Installer T65L 6306A . Crank Gear Installer T52L 6306AEE . Im betting you will pay dearly for them though . Search Snap On's website or Mac Tools website , they usually have equivalent SST cheaper .
