Spring has sprung and so has the gas prices....
 

It`s a good time of the year on the prairies weather wise but the gasoline prices are headed the wrong way, up :-X15 .

Isnt that the truth. Back here in the states since Christmas time gas has went up about 40 plus cents a gallon. Whats the price up there currently. Its $2.55 a gallon down here.

It`s at about $1.06 a litre here in Saskatchewan (Western Canada), 4.54 litres to a Canadian gallon = $4.81 in Canadian funds. A Canadian gallon is 20% larger than an American gallon, our dollar is in the range of $.87 US. So our gallon is 20% larger than US and our dollar is worth almost 20% less. It`s beginning to sound a little like we`re part of Mexico. :-X14

I thought a Canadian gallon was 3.78L?? I've been using 4.55L/gallon in my MPG calculations for a long time but I've recently been corrected. Gas is 95-96cents/L.....about an hour northeast of Toronto.

US gallon is 3.785L

And really, what is the point of a Canadian gallon???? Why use something that is obsolete AND different from everybody else?

I was talkin' to Matt about it and he sent me a spreadsheet to help me keep track of my mileage. He got it from somebody on here but I can't remember who. Anyways it uses the 3.78 number in the formula. If I'd used the 4.55 number to figure out my mpg for my trip to London my mpg worked out to over 26mpg.

We`re Canadian, eh. What a bunch of politicans running this country, if you can`t confuse people you`re not doing your job. :-X14
How and why the metric system came to pass is something I`ll never know, some ways it`s easier but for the most part I still don`t like it. x(

Gas was $1.01.9 in Oshawa this evening. I was thinking about it this evening and I came up with a word to describe where things are at with the price of gas.....GLUTTONY...it's one of the "seven deadly sins".

Here in Princeton BC 2 of our 3 gas stations were up to $107.9 from 98.9 first thing in the morning.

No such thing as a Canadian Gallon.

In Canada, it is the Imperial Gallon or ther use of Imperial measurement.

Imp Gallon 160 Oz's
US gallon 128 Oz's

Imp Pint = 20 oz
US Pint =16 oz

Ok, a Canadian size gallon? This is the imperial gallon and is the size Canadians refer to.

I had 26mpg originally but it seemed quite high and when I asked Matt(Beast12) he said I was using the wrong number in my equation. He said I should be using 3.78 not 4.55.

First off yes there is a Canadian gallon, and yes if you get 20 mpg in the States you are getting 24 up here. I think we have a bigger gallon to offset all the hicks that drive jacked up trucks suckin back at 15 mpg. Secondly I am unsure how your truck is advertised at 15-19 mpg? If I am correct, isn't it rated around 25 (assuming the explorer)? Correct me if I am wrong.

All stickers on the vehicles go by the Canadian gallon. There is nothing worse than trying to figure out that L/100 km bull.
