1976 Mercury Capri 2 build up and more....

OK, I have had many ask me how my Capri Strut front end was done and other related questions.

So I just uploaded a photo book at my Yahoo:

That's an interesting approach. When I ran my '71 Capri Mini-stock, I left the strut towers intact (as per track rules) but braced them with tubing attached to the frame rails and front hoop, which allowed me to remove the extra sheet metal as you did. A bit cruder than yours, but still quite effective (as several track records will show.)

Looks like you have a lot more adjustablity than I did, but again, I was limited by the rules.

Well, our rules (www.irwindalespeedway.com) or my former track rules as I'm now taking it and going road racing with it as their Race director (many long stories for ya) and me don't get along like his drinking buddies that I used to race against....are simular.

But the Pintos wanted to be able to gut the inner fender wells.....that is why I did what I did and documented the whole thing to show the tech officials that everything was in fact in stock locations.

They were so impressed with my car that when anyone asked them about how to build a Mini Stock car, the tech's would point at me or my pit and say "go see him"!

Track politics...that's why I got out of it. Why does it always have to be track politics...
