1986 ford sesquicentennial edition
I Recently Purchased A 1986 Ford F150 Lariat Sesquicentennial Edition Of Texas.does Anyone Have Any Info On This Truck?it Has Two Sequicentennial Plaques On Each Side Of The Truck With A Picture Of Texas On It

hi, i have a 1986 f150 seaquicentennial texas edition truck also. i bought the truck in 1990. mine is a supercab long bed 2 wheel drive lariat with 302 efi. colors are blue and silver. can you post any pics of yours along with some body and drive train specs? i have tried to reasearch these limmited edition trucks with not much sucess. look forward to your responce sean. i will post some pics also..........

Dealerships were known to create "special editions" to increase sales.

I was just wondering if it was just a badge or if it had any add ons with the trim package like the ones nowadays do.

These were made in 1986 to celebrate Texas' 150 years of independence from Mexico. Best I remember besides having the
badges on the sides of the bed they also included free a/c. All the ones I've seen were Lariats. |
That's interesting, I didn't know it was a dealership only kind of thing back in this time period.
So technically anyone could make a "Texas" edition for example as there was no clear cut package. |

I remember a thread on here where someone had a local special edition truck from up in Illinois or Indiana or somewhere up there, and said they found out all those trucks had 4.11 rearends in them. It was whatever the dealer wanted to promote, and whatever they wanted to order at the time from Ford. I am guessing they all still had to go by Ford's rules of what equipment can be ordered with a certain type of truck. I doubt Ford ever did the Yenko thing with these trucks.
For example it was what the dealership ordered so in theory I could slap Texas badges on my truck even though its an '82 and say it was a Texas edition from the dealership that sold it. It technically wouldn't be incorrect because this kind of thing was done by independent dealerships. |
Some of these packages were for the whole sales district kinda like the California Special,High Country Special,
Bluebonnet Special,Twister Special and others were for the early Mustangs. |
It would be interesting to talk to some people that worked at the dealerships back then and find out how all this worked.

I went out to the local Ford house this morning to get the oil changed on my '11 F150 and I asked the parts manager about this.
I knew he has worked there many many years, he said he started in1986.He said these badges were shipped separately from Ford and the dealer put them on. And some editions could have certain equipment on them(A/C at no charge). He remembers the Sesquicentennial edition my granddad bought and the more I thought about it a few years before my granddad bought the '86 he had an '84 F150 with Texas Lariat badges. I guess a person could get a Marti report and see if a special edition shows up on it.
