Repair Truck

Dave. Did you get the engine in the truck fixed?

Dave Sponaugle 03-18-2006 09:20 PM

I bought a salvage yard 6.9 motor and installed it Thanksgiving day.
I used the IP and turbo off the reman engine that went bad.
The IP started to go bad Thursday on the way to Morgantown.
I just got back from Huntington where I bought a replacement IP.
Now tomorrow I get to install the IP and then the only thing left of the reman engine will be the turbo.
I guess it will be dead soon.

Do not ever buy anything from Reviva, they reman junk.
So you get remanufactured junk, which is still just junk.

Dave Sponaugle 03-19-2006 07:56 PM

Well the new IP is in, I think I should have changed it before I ever install the first reman engine.
What a difference it made.

I have not even started to tweak it yet and it runs just as good.

That sounds great. I have a slight miss that I just cannot find. All injectors are working, no burned harness that I can see, fuel pressure is the same from the front to the back. I am going to try the HPX line and see if that solves it.

Dave Sponaugle 03-21-2006 10:00 PM

Wonder if one of your injectors is getting weak.

When I had mine pop tested I had to rebuild 4 that were not spraying right and two that were dribbling.

I was thinking the same, but have not had the time lately to do the research and gather the tools to test them.

Dave Sponaugle 03-23-2006 08:18 PM

Tell me about it.
We just picked up another site to develop yesterday and have a meeting on another site and retaining wall tomorrow.

It is Springtime. Everybody wants everything done now. It is the same in my job. RUSH RUSH RUSH

Surprising, the miss seems to have went away. I bought fuel in NC. It may be that WV has not changed the blend yet.

Dave Sponaugle 03-26-2006 03:24 PM

I am a firm believer in a good dose of Diesel Kleen in every other tank of fuel.
Seems to help things out a good bit.
You would also be amazed at the number of engine problems I see fixed with fuel treatments in the IDI forums.

pmasley 03-26-2006 03:36 PM

I use DK in every tank. I just think that it was jsut the fuel. I put fuel in it last night and the slight miss has came back. It is not like before, so I am putting my finger on the fuel. The miss is not contant. It seems to be occurring in all cylinders due to watching it shake. There is no stumble, but the power loss is now back. Seems like my pony has a slight limp. They are supposed to change the fuel next week. I sure hope so!

Dave Sponaugle 03-26-2006 05:20 PM

Since it is snowing here I wonder about the change to summer fuel. I will be most interested in my MPG on summer fuel after the new IP.

If I were you I think I would be finding a new fuel stop.
I buy all mine at the local truck stop, really hate to buy it anywhere else.
Never had a fuel related issue with their fuel.

pmasley 04-26-2006 12:10 AM

The problem started when I bought fuel on the turnpike. Then it started throwing a P0470 code that I cannot resolve.

A client is going to try to help me resolve it this weekend. We are going to change the turbo, innercooler and add a Big Hoss exhaust system to it. I am trying to price the gauges I will need f\to run this. Guess I will have to take it easy until they arrive.

Dave Sponaugle 04-26-2006 09:19 PM

Now that sounds like an interesting weekend.

What does a P0470 code stand for?

I may have to offer to drive down and haul your junk away for you.
How far from Charleston are you?

pmasley 05-01-2006 09:27 AM

At the moment, I am in Charleston. I live outside of Beckley. The guy that is helping me make the change is somehow connected with Banks as a distributor.

That P0470 code is a back pressure sensor.

After changing the innercooler and tubes and adding a chip, this weekend, I killed it. I don't know what went wrong. The truck has no power. I am going to check the innercooler this evening to see if it is cracked. I have removed the chip and disconnected the batteries (since last night). There is no codes. Hopefully, I will find something tonight.
