Methanol Costs

Ok theres a place in town that sells methanol(5 gallon containers) for $52.82 is this a resonable price? how much bio will that make?

Fire Rooster 03-15-2006 05:56 PM

UHHHH no that is terrible. I buy a 55 gallon drum for 147.00 A 5 gallon amount of methanol will make about 22 gallons of BD.

I thought it seemed a little high, its from some diesel fuel supplier here in town.

buying in bulk, from a chemical supply company is usually the cheapest way to get your methanol and your lye as well

Check out places that sell race fuels. I am paying $1.98/gal by the gallon small quantities or $107 for a 55 gallon drum.

Where do u find a plae that sells race fuel though, i odnt have many race tracks around here so how would i come by getting it without having to drive long distances to get it?

BPG - ask around at hot rod performance stores. Folks that are serious about performance know where to find performance fuels. And if they don't know directly, they'll know someone who knows someone who knows someone....

I live in a small town in east TX, and drive 30 miles to Tyler to get my methanol from a car repair shop. Turns out the owner likes to go really fast in circles, so he keeps a few barrels in the back of the shop for himself and his friends to use on weekends. I can buy a 55gal drum for $115 + $30 barrel deposit.

Hey dave I live in Emory, Texas about 30 miles from Tyler and I have been having to drive to Dallas to pick up my methanol. Do you think that I can start buying my barrels at the same place you do there in tyler?? I sure would appreciate some information on buying it closer to me. Thanks
