Re-ringing Engine

I recently bought a 1980 F-250 with a rebuilt 400 in it, but when I started the engine it had a miss. I ran a compression check and one cylinder was at 0, I know I need to rering it, but should I also put in an oil pump? it only has 1000 miles on it, I'm sure they didnt break it in properly.

Thank you,

A reading of "0" would mean more than bad rings. I've only seen readings that low when there was a hole in the piston. The only other possible cause would be if neither one of the valves were opening or closing. Pull the valve covers off and check for rocker movement. Good luck.

that would be either a valve problem or head gasket failure the best way to check would be to do a leak down test to pinpoint the problem but either way u have to pull the heads
