Tennessee CRAWFISH
It seems there's about two or three dozen kinds of them around here - they range from mighty tiny to about six inches in length measured from the head (pincers not included). Several varieties are in Arkansas and Missourri...
But any size Crawfish is also the PRIME bait for any kind of fishing anywhere around here, YOU KNOW that. Fish can smell a freshly shelled Crawfish tail from further away than Bill Clinton could smell interns... I also thought about raising a few in a tank. |
my brothere used to raise a brim and two crawdads in a 10 gallon aquarium before he left for the marines. it was pretty neat looking, and he caught them in the creek behind his apartment.

I always used a drag net on a 10 ft piece of conduit to dragup crayfish out of road ditches. I made it out of wire mesh & a couple of round metal rings to shape it. I can catch a bucket full in just a little time. They are great fish bait. I like the small ones for big bream. The bigger ones are great for catfish.:-D

I heard that Crawdaddies will wait for a fish in a tank to get right up to them and then snatch them right on down...
I bet they are fun to raise, and will git along just fine with cat or puppy chow. |
