57 ranchero 312v8 transmission help
 

hey guys, well im pretty new i have a 57 ranchero 312v8 and im 16. and well its been a project car for me and my dad, so weve been fixing\driving it. and i recently blew out the trans. it is a t-86 3sp\od and was rebuild muliple times. i dont wanna rebuild it again, so i was debating the transmission i want to put in it. t-10 4 speed or t-98 i like 4 speed no overdrive. and was wondering what you guys think i should do? i dont make much money so my looking for a good trans. so if anyone has one let me know.

i'd post in the clutch/tranny section as well- maybe even in the 312 or y engine section.

I've had several 57s, I used a T10, (broke it), then put a 4 speed out of a 67 Mustang in it, beefier trans. Had to change driveshaft.

nice, what trans did you take from the mustang? are T-10s weak? cause the three speed i had in the '57 was pretty weak. im just trying to figure out what 4 speed trans will match my bell houseing and spline number.

It came from a 67 390 Mustang fastback. The T10 would probably be ok though, I broke it drag racing it behind a 406 in my 57, (the T10 came with the 406 in my 62 Ford Galaxie).
