weights: F150 Vs F250

Everyone always says that our new F150's are some heavy pigs, and I don't disagree. BUT.... I was just wondering what is the weight difference between say, an 06 F150 Screw 4x4 5.4 V8 XLT with the new 6.5' bed and an 06 F250 Crewcab short bed 4x4 XLT with 5.4 V8 and auto tranny? I couldn't find weights listed on Ford's web site.

I have a 2005 F350 6.0L automatic supercab 4X4 it weighs 7750 lbs

Base curb weight for a CC F250 is a supposed 6500 lbs....which I think is utter BS.

My previously owned '00 4x4 F250 Supercab with a 7.3L PSD tipped the scales at 8000lbs with just me and a full tank of fuel. I know that my fathers '03 CC 4x4 PSD is even heavier than that. I realize that I'm refering to diesel motors....but the 7.3L isn't 1500lbs more than a gasser.

The problem with a 5.4L powered F250 vs a 5.4L F150 is that you can haul a couple hundred more pounds payload....and that's it. A f250 with a 5.4l and 3.73s only has a GCWR of 16000 lbs...that number sure gets trimmed down with a ultra conservative base weight of 6500lbs.

You could go with a 5.4L F250 with 4.10's to get a GCWR of 18000lbs, but why do this and get incredibly poor mpg when the 6.8L with 4.10's has a GCWR of 21500 and does get better mpg at the same time all for a difference of ~$600 in sticker price?

My '04 Screw supposedly has a 5500 lb base weight, but with the 3.73's I have I can tow a 9500 lb trailer.

Just to tell another one, 2000 7.3 PSD Excursion XLT with me (190 lbs) and a half tank of fuel (25 gal or so) I went over the scales at 8350 lbs.

a f150 screw weighs 5,850 curb weight. a 250 cc 4x4 5.4 is about 7,500

I din't think there was that big of a weight gain going to a 250. My 05 Screw 4x4 is 5900# gassed and ready to go.

Last time my '04 F150 SCAB was on the scale, it was 6,160 pounds.
My '01 diesel F250 SCAB was about 7400.

Both 4x4, with caps and me (195# or so).
