What oil filter do you prefer?
Not to start a brand war or anything, but what oil filter do you prefer? Please include the model # (in case I decide to take your advice). This will be my rig's first oil change by me (110k miles) and I plan to change with non-synthetic every 5000 (filter every 2500).

Would that be the 51734 or 51734XE (synth media)?

I like FleetGuard LF 3974 (getting them from "Geno's, one of our sponors) Also suggest you get a "bypass filter" from "OilGuard" if you are going to stretch your changes to 5000 miles using non synthetic..

wix makes a good one. no need to change the fitler every 2500 miles. the oil and filter are good for 5,000 easy plenty of uoa's support they can go 7500 miles on the same oil and filter and still return great results.

Baldwin B7039 full-flow. B164 bypass.
I completely agree with gashog above. Pop |
Have not used the on a diesel yet but the K&N filter filters down to 10 micron, smaller than most which are 30 micron.

Good reason for bypass filters. Nut |
the stock filter has a nominal micron rating of 20. the wix replacement is 19 and flows 30 GPM.
|
the K&N shows 20 GPM and a nominal rating of 14.

i like my wix filters on the truck, seems that the oil stays cleaner longer then fram.

If it's a ford I run a Motorcraft
|
i use the motorcraft because i can get them at wal- mart for under 10 bucks
|
I use the Wix that I pick up at O'reilly's. I doubt it's the synthetic media. I do plan on ordering up a few from fleetfilter before my next oil change though, to save some money.

Oil Filters
I use Either the Ford FL-1995 or the NAPA Gold 1734.
Usually the NAPA's are a buck or two cheaper than I can get the Ford filters. I do like the 1995's gasket better than the 1734's. (Ford's is tapered - napa's is flat) DG |
