rich rich rich carb help

Fellas, I just had the motocraft 2150 rebuilt on my 390 and it is running very rich. The exhaust is so rich my wife is about to kill me because of my clothe.Does anyone have some good advice in adjusting and working with this 2 barrell. Plus, what would cause my engine oil to smell real strong of gas??? and why does my oil pressure gauge read 100lbs is this the kind of out put these high volume pumps make??/ Thanks and Go PiTT!!!!!

The gassy-smelling oil is due to the richness of the carb -- unburned gasoline is draining into your oilpan, thinning your oil, etc.

Most of the time that problem is caused by a blown power valve. It can happen even with a new valve if the engine backfires thru the carb even once. It is a poor design. Holley used the same system and they have a check valve now that prevents blowing the valve. I have no idea if the Holley retrofit valve could be used on a Motorcraft carb.

Otherwise check your float settings.
